"HERSTORY" is compilation of excerpts from Black servicewomen in the Women's Army Air Force Corps, the Women's Army Corps, the Women in Auxiliary Voluntary Services, the Women's Air Force the Women's Marine Corps, and the women in the National Guard. This website will record the history and memories of Black active and veteran servicewomen, so we may preserve a place in history for those women who have gone before us, and those who continue to serve our nation.
COLONEL (RETIRED) DOLORES HELEN HAMPTON
Colonel Dolores Hampton retired from the United States Army in 1997. She has spent over 26 years in the military. Colonel Hampton resided in Atlanta, Georgia
where she is involved in many activities. She is a Member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Inc, The first president of the National Association of Black Military Woman, A member of Ben Hill United Methodist Church in Atlanta , Georgia, Vice president of the Church Veterans Ministry, a member of the Quality Living Services Inc, (QLS) Senior Center Board of Directors, Queen of the Divine Dynamic Divas in Red Chapter of the Red Hat Society, President of The QLS Historical Society, member of QLS Travel Club, has served as a volunteer with the Atlanta VA Medical Center and is a member of American Legion, Post 58, Englewood, NJ
She has received numerous Military Honors and Awards-Legion of Merit, Army Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/o, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal. She has received civilian as well as community awards.
Colonel Hampton is a Motivational Speaker, Community Psychologist, Counselor and is committed to giving back to the community.
